Abstract
Welcome to the CDS Newsletter for May 2021. In this issue, you'll learn more about events happening this month as well as our ongoing activities. In particular, you will find results from our 36th Annual Pacific Rim International Conference on Disability and Diversity held on March 1 - 2, 2021. The conference was held completely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we had nearly 400 participants across the globe participate. Next year’s Pacific Rim Conference is Feb 28 - Mar 1, 2022 HST. We also join the national efforts to raise awareness about various issues each month. April was Autism Awareness Month, and our Disability and Diversity course graduate students held an Autism Awareness/Acceptance Day campaign on O‘ahu and Island of Hawai‘i to encourage awareness, acceptance and the hiring of those on the autism spectrum and the neurodiverse. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The need to address mental health issues have become more pronounced during this COVID-19 pandemic and there is a continued need to support mental health challenges faced by all.
