Abstract: Brief excerpt from interview: It made me like the Mojave [Desert]... We were out there for a week. [Our instructor] would drive us to the field study. He gave us a topographic map of our study area and a gps. He would drop us off and say go do it... It was an adventure, it was very freeing... I had grown up very close to [Mojave]. I didn't like it just because it was a bunch of dirt and rocks... [My instructor] told me it was going to be a great experience... and it was great.
Description: This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in Geology & Geophysics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2014, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question '(How) did this course change you as a person, as a writer, as a scholar, if at all?'
