Abstract: This paper is a portion of the complete report on the Ethnology of Tubuai, submitted to the Trustees of the Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii, at the conclusion of the services of the author as Research Associate in Ethnology, in March, 1923, and is based on the field work done for that Institution by the author during the years 1920, 1921, and 1922.

Contains legends in the language spoken on Tubuai with English translations. Aitken wrote in 1930: "The modern Tubuai language is almost entirely the Tahitian dialect of today."
