Abstract
Perhaps one of the most interesting applica_tions of the Theory of Quantum Mechanics, from the chemist's point of view, is that. with respect to the chemical bond. The exact nature of the chemical bond has long been and still persists to be a fundamental area of research. With the advent and acceptance of molecular quantum mechanics, a path toward a more exacting, fundamental and quantitative understanding of the chemical bond has arisen. Closely tied in with the chemical bond problem is that of electronic correlation, one of the con cerns of this paper.
