Abstract: Whenever we look at our affluent society, we see the bewildering pace of change. We hear so much about change these days that it has become increasingly difficult to earnestly think about it. We are repeatedly told of the changes in our economy, technology, communication, and transportation. Daily, we are made aware of the uncertain and shifting wonder of past generations and the rising expectations of a new generation. Profound as these changes may seem, it is merely a glimpse of a much more profound change, a change of attitudes within man concerning his own development.
