Abstract
Struggle and Strength is a literary fiction novella in the genre of slice of life writing, with an accompanying critical analysis afterward. The story is set in real time of a camping trip near the river on one weekend in the life of Amma and her two daughters. The narrative is recursive moving back through relationships. The focalization is seen through the characters of Amma and her seven year old daughter, Nina.
