Center for Pacific Islands Studies Publications

The center publishes the Pacific Islands Monograph Series (PIMS); the scholarly journal The Contemporary Pacific: A Journal of Island Affairs (TCP); an Occasional Paper series; and a quarterly newsletter, Pacific News from Mānoa; it has also published a series called South Sea Books.

Editorial boards of Pacific scholars oversee the selection of titles for publication and determine the direction of the publishing program. The Pacific Islands Monograph Series is published jointly with the University of Hawai‘i Press, as was South Sea Books; selected titles in both series have been copublished with other presses. The Contemporary Pacific is published by the University of Hawai‘i Press. The Occasional Papers are produced internally and distributed on request for a nominal charge. Pacific News from Mānoa is distributed free of charge in print, by e-mail, or online.
