Title: An Evaluation of an Online Program
Author: Beamer, Michael S.
Date: 2002
Abstract: This study is an evaluation of the online program under development at the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s English Language Institute (ELI), which offers English intensive courses to ESL university students. Since its first implementation of online courses in 2002, in the following semester, questionnaires and interviews were administered to both students and developers/teachers of the online courses to evaluate current state of the ELI’s online program. The analysis showed that in general teachers and students seemed to be satisfied with the online courses with regards to freedom in time-management and activities, suggesting that ELI’s online program is doing well considering its relatively early state. However, there seemed to be some issues to be improved such as technological problems and interactional limitations among teachers and students.
