<title>Exploring the Impacts of Math Plato Intervention on Kailua High School Students</title>

<description>This study reports the results of an evaluation of the Math PLATO Intervention program designed as an alternative math course for students who consistently earned low scores. Math PLATO Intervention (MPI) hoped to increase the students’ scores and motivation by creating a more intimate learning environment and by using a variety of teaching methods including PLATO software. The study evaluates the program in terms of adherence to program objectives, effects of class size on students, changes in student behavior and mathematics content knowledge.

<title>Marine Science Intertidal Field Trips Impact on Students’ Overall Learning Experiences</title>

<description>This systematic action research study explores the impact of field trips in a semester long marine science course.  The study involves “at risk” students and emphasizes their involvement as “hands on” scientists collecting and analyzing data in the field.  Findings indicated that the students gained an increased understanding of science concepts as well as more confidence and motivation as learners.

What factors do mainstream teachers of ELLs say affect student learning?

The action research focuses on the role of reflection and using student conversation to make personal connections to the students’ reading and writing.
